The Forest of Doom,Is just as the description states a "create your own adventure" book. That means you have to read through the entire adventure and from time to time there's an image that's relevant to the situation.If you don't like reading, then you should stay away from this game, otherwise, if you like visual novels and rpg's; go buy it. It's worth it.Depending on how you play, the game can be rather challenging, but satisfying. There's a lot of combat and many treasures to be found. Some may aid you and some may.., well, do something else.An important thing about this game is that it stands or falls with your own imagination. It's just as good as your fantasy and as such it's rather complicated to say if it's a good or bad game.For my own taste I say it's a good game and fun to play.. I still have a lot of the Fighting Fantasy books from when I was a kid, and to see them in a new format is a joy.Whether you're a long-time fan or new to the series, The Forest of Doom is a real gem.I look forward to seeing more adaptaions, especially if they're as well done as this one.10\/10. 6.1 hrs on recordAHH FEEL THE NOSTALGIA!As a child growing up in the 80's and being a big reader it was a labour of love saving up money to buy every fighting fantasty book as they came out. This was my first purchased fighting fantasy book so it still holds a special place in my heart. Forest of Doom was in the typical setting of most of the fighting fasntasy books. Tin Man games has done a great job of transferring this book to the computer. If you enjoyed fighting fantasy books back in the day then I highly reccommend you pick this up for your self or your children.. There is very little text in between too many uninteresting fights. The French translation is rather poor. The gameplay during fights is driven by too much pointless randomness. The music is extremely repetitive. There are better gamebooks by Tin Man Games, e.g. \u00ab An Assassin in Orlandes \u00bb.. Although I recommend this game for its fun and unique storytelling, I must include a word of warning.This game is short. Although you'll undoubtably have to play it through four or five times before you see everything, it's still a very short game with little content. The creatures are stereotypical of this genre, but you must remember this is based on an old novel from the days of D&D. We didn't have the crazy monsters which we have now.I'm not sure if the game is worth the money I paid, even if that amount was lower due to a Steam sale. I expected this game to be as long as a Tolkien novel with thousands of different paths and events. This is more like a single chapter.In the end, I do recommend it for a quick play through, but wish I had referenced the game before purchasing. At least to the game's credit it offers a free-roaming option so that I may re-read every possible option without fighting.. Really true to the source material and full of nostalgia. Sad to see a typo a few pages in. Check your work, people! Check it SO many times. Other than that, a pet peev admittedly, a beautiful rendition of a fantastic gamebook. There's also an 'about' section in the extras that tells you about the creators. Very cool.
